The PCH50 and Off the Record have targeted the funding initiative of the DaVinci 5 Robotic Surgical System.

Phoenix Children’s currently has one of the largest groups of pediatric urologists able to perform robotic surgery in the Southwest United States. However, Phoenix Children’s does not currently have the surgical system to perform these surgeries at the children’s hospital. These surgeries are currently being performed at a local adult hospital. Parents have requested that their child’s robotic surgery be performed at a children’s hospital as opposed to an adult hospital. 

Advantages of adding the DaVinci 5 Robotic Surgical System to Phoenix Children’s include faster patient recovery with decreased morbidity and more precise suturing to improve surgical outcomes. In addition, robotic surgery allows smaller incisions decreasing post-operative pain and a quicker return to school and daily activities for the children. Shorter hospital stays will translate into expected decrease cost to the health care system. 

With support, donations can expand Phoenix Children’s urology department's capacity to perform robotic surgeries. This not only enhances their ability to provide cutting-edge care but can also elevate their reputation as a pediatric surgical leader in Phoenix and surrounding areas. By leveraging the DaVinci system and their skilled surgeons, contributions will enable Phoenix Children's to establish and promote a distinguished Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Surgery, ensuring that more children receive the highest standard of care close to home.
